Components

Ad Builder components are designed to easily add functionality to your project and exported ad.


The Components Panel

Simply drag & drop a component onto the stage to add it to your project. Once the component is on stage, you can position it and edit its settings using the properties panel.


Click Tag

ClickTags are buttons used to set up and track clicks to destination URLs. You can have up to 9 different clickTags in your ad. Setting it as an Instant Ads variable overrides the final destination URL that would normally be placed into the Flashtalking Ad Serving system.

Simply drag, drop and position the component and a default behaviour of applying the next available clickTag (so clickTag1 for the first Click Tag component added to the stage) will be added to the Actions Panel. Edit the behaviour of the Click Tag component at any time by accessing the Actions Panel.


Interaction Area

There are several options for the Interaction Area. These are:

None - Set this to disable the click button's action

Click Through - Works as per the Click Tag component above

Goto Page - You can set the ad to direct to a different page in the project upon click. Select the page to display from the dropdown box listing the available pages. Tip: select this action and to goto a page that is of a larger size than the main page to automatically create an expand ad. See the Pages section for more information on this.

Go to and Stop - use this option to move to a different time in the timeline and stop

Go to and Play - Use this action to jump to a different time in the timeline and continue playing from there

Stop - Stop the playback of the ad and go back to the start of the timeline

Pause - Pause the ad at its current time


Close Button

Add this to an expand page to automatically set up a close button and go back to the main page. more information is available in the Pages section.


Video Component

The Video Component is used to easily set up a video in your ad. Simply place the video component on the stage and the video will display at that size and location. The following settings are available using the properties panel:

Video - The dropdown lists all available videos for the component to display. The video list is derived from the Creative Interface campaign that you have saved the project into. To encode more videos, you must log into the Creative Interface and use the encode videos facility form there.

Poster Image - The poster image displays while the video loads - select any asset from the dropdown or drag & drop an image from the Assets Panel to the icon:

Show Controls - This option will set whether the video controls will display or be hidden.

Muted - This option will set the video to muted or not by default. the video can be unmuted by the user during playback.

Autoplay - Ticking this box will set the video to automatically play as soon as it is visible & ready.

Instant Ad - Tick this box to set the Video to be an Instant Ads variable. If ticked, the video will be able to be updated at any time through the Update Instant Ads panel in the Creative Interface.

Video ID - This associates the video component to a video component ID - used in reporting in the published as and in the Update Instant Ads interface. you can have up to 9 different videos in your project/ad.


YouTube Component

You can display a YouTube video within your ad by placing this component on the stage. It contains similar settings as the Video Component, but with a few additions.

VideoID - Add the Youtube ID or URL to select which video you would like to display.

Video ID - This associates the video component to a video component ID - used in reporting in the published as and in the Update Instant Ads interface. you can have up to 9 different videos in your project/ad.

Instant Ad - If ticked, the video will be able to be updated at any time through the Update Instant Ads panel in the Creative Interface. The video URL will appear as a text string in the Update Instant Ads interface.


FullScreen Play Button

The FullScreen Play button allows to play a video only in full screen.

Video ID - This associates the video component to a video component ID - used in reporting in the published as and in the Update Instant Ads interface. You can have up to 9 different videos in your project/ad.

Text Field

The Text Field component allows you to display text into your ad, using a variety of web fonts or a custom font of your choosing. Drag the component onto the stage and once positioned, either edit the text by using the properties panel or double-clicking on the component on the stage to edit the text directly. Options available in the properties panel for the Text Field component (see the usual options for items in the Properties panel section):

Text - The text to display within the ad. Tip: The text field component will automatically listen for HTML text and convert it, so you can control the size of text in the Ad Builder and Instant Ads update in this way.

Instant Ad - Tick this box if you would like this text to be added as an Instant Ads variable and updatable through the Update Instant Ads panel in the Creative interface. Text currently in the field will be added as the default value for that variable.

Typeface - Select the Typeface that the text field will display. By default there are a selection of web safe fonts to select from, and custom fonts can be uploaded through the application menu:

Once your custom font has finished uploading and being converted by the Flashtalking system, it will be available to use in your Ad Builder project.

Font Size - Set the size that the font will display at.

Line Height - Set the line height for the font.

Color - Set the color of the font in the text field. You can either type a hex value directly into the text input field or use the color picker.

Style - Select whether you would like the font to display as Bold or Italic.

Align - Select ho you would like the font to be aligned in the Text Field: Left, Center, Right or Justify.


Carousel

The Carousel Component allows you to quickly and easily create a carousel of slides to display content in your ad. The Carousel uses Animation Pages as its slides, so individua slides can have animations within the current slide.

When setting up the Carousel either the supplied default arrows can be used for navigating between slides, or custom actions to switch slides can be bound to your own assets. The Carousel also supports swipe actions on mobile devices.

Slides - Add a new slide by clicking on the '+' button, once a slide is created it can be set to a specific animation page and ordered in the carousel by dragging and dropping the slide into the desired position. The slide can also be removed form the carousel by clicking on the trash icon.

Show Controls - Set whether to display the default arrows with the carousel, if you don't have your own arrows it is recommended to kep this option selected.


3D Cube Component

The 3D Cube Component allows you to display 4 sides of content in to one space where the user can rotate the cube to display each side. The Cube uses Cube Face's as its slides, so you can have your content placed in each slide.

When you place the cube on to the stage, the Cube Face's will be added to your set of pages. From the drop down menu, you can select a cube face and add your content.

When setting up the 3D Cube, you can either use the supplied swipe actions in the action panel or use custom actions added to your own assets to rotate the cube.

Slides - Here you can decide the order of which the slides will appear by dragging the area. Additionally, you can select a different cube face or animation page using the drop down menu.


Shape Component

The Shape Component allows you to easily create different shapes to display in your ad. Once you've dragged the component onto the stage, you can edit the shape properties in the properties panel:

Shape - You can determine the type of shape by selecting either a Circle, Square, or Polygon from the drop down menu.

Corner Radius - For shapes such as the Square or Polygon, enter a number to specify the corner radius and create rounded corners.

Sides - If the Polygon shape has been selected, you will be given the option to determine the number of sides the shape has by dragging the range slider.


Map Component

You can display a map directly in your ad by simply dragging & dropping the Maps component onto the stage. To add locations, simply click the '+' button next to 'locations and insert the location where you would like to display a pin.

You can use a postcode, town name or lat,long coordinates, separated by a comma. On publish the ad will display the map with the pin locations set up.

IMPORTANT: for your ad to go live, you must first get an API key for Google Maps that will allow you to load maps at a high enough frequency. Without this, Google Maps will work within the Ad Builder interface, but not outside of this domain.

The other options allow you to set your locations as an Instant Ads Text variable and set the zoom level of the map.

In the normal maps component (not available in location component maps) you can have actions set up against interactions with pins.

With the Instant Ads checkbox ticked, all locations are set up as a single delimited string variable.


Input Field

The Input Field specifies an input field where the user can enter different types of data. When combined with a Submit Button, can send the data to a URL.

Default Text - This is the initial text that will appear in the input field.

Submit Button - Use the drop down menu to specify the submit button used to submit the data.

Required - If this option is ticked, the user will need to enter the specified data in order to complete the form.

Restrict - You can restrict what type of data the user can enter by selecting a data type in the drop down menu. You can select from the following – Letters Only, Numbers Only, Letters & Numbers, and Email.


Submit Button

The Submit Button is used to send data retrieved from the Input Fields and send it to a URL.

Button Image - You can select an image for the button- select any asset from the drop down menu or drag and drop an image from the Assets Panel to the icon.

Submit URL- Enter the URL where you want the data from the Input Fields to be sent.

Method - Use the drop down menu to determine the method of submitting the data. POST to send the data as an HTTP post transaction, GET to append the data to the URL, or URL to Click Through to a URL.


Tap to Call

The Tap to Call is defined as a Dynamic Click Tag but instead is directed to call a phone number.

Tap to Call URL- Enter a valid number.


Download File

The Download File Component allows the user to download a file such as a PDF from a specified URL.

Download File From- Enter the URL of where the file is stored..

Button Image - You can select an image for the button- select any asset from the drop down menu or drag and drop an image from the Assets Panel to the icon.


Social Buttons

The Social Buttons work as per the Click Tag component but have been set up using to click through to specified social pages.

You use from the following - Facebook Button, Twitter Button, Youtube Button, Google+ Button, Instagram Button, and the Pinterest Button.

Default URL- Enter the URL extension of the click through destination page.
